%X Biochemical indices are more sensitive to reflect the damage caused by pollutants in the environment, and thus have attracted increasing attention in the environment field. To study the effect of dicofol (DCF) on biochemical indices of loach (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus), loaches were exposed in artificial sediments containing various dosages of DCF, and blood samples were collected respectively after 24, 48 and 96 h exposure to determine the activities of glutathione S-transferase (GST) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in blood serum. Results showed that after 24 and 96 h exposure, the GST activities were induced by DCF at lower dosages and inhibited by DCF at higher dosages, while after 48 h exposure, the GST activities were induced by DCF at different dosages and the induction effect was enhanced with increasing the dosages. The AChE activities in blood serum decreased as the DCF dosages increased. Both GST and AChE activities tended to decrease with the extension of exposure time, demonstrating a fine time-effect relationship. It is indicated that the activities of GST and AChE in blood serum could obviously reflect the toxicity of DCF to loach, so GST and AChE were suggested preliminarily as biomarkers to assess the biochemical toxicity of DCF to aquatic organisms.
