%X A derivative of perylenequinone , hypocrellin - B (HC-B), was shown as a photodynamic dye. to accelerate the photooxidation of bilirubin in serm with an increase in oxidative rate for more than 5-fold. Studies of the effect of various active oxygen quenchers on HC-B Photosensitized oxidation of bilirubin indicated that in serum both free radical reactions (Type I ) and singlet oxygen reaction (Type II ) seem to occur simutanously.
