%X With ANS as fluorescence probe, effect of three metal phthalocyanines on mitochondrial membrane surface potential and charge density in photodynamic therapy were investigated; meanwhile, cell survival was studied by MTT. Results showed that effect of ZnPcS was most prominent and its effect on mitochondrial membrane surface potential was coincident with the result of MTT. The mitochondrial membrane may be the binding site of photosensitizers in PDT. Because of the close relationship between mitochondrial membrane potential and cell apoptosis, the effect of photosensitizers on mitochondrial membrane surface potential proves an evidence for its curative effect, and the physical mechanism in PDT was discussed.
