%X This paper describes a new model for object detection based on the structure of the primary visual cortex. The model only adopts the basic elements in V1 such as orientation selective cells and horizontal intra-cortical connections. Knowledge, presented in time pulses form by the chain code of the object contour, is capable of controlling the dynamics of the neuron in V1 area, and causes neurons within the contour in accordance with the knowledge to oscillate synchronously. Thus the model realizes the extraction of the particular object contour. Computer simulation results show that under the control of knowledge stored in higher cortex, the detection of simple object based on the structure of the primary visual cortex is feasible.
