%X Bacteriorhodopsin has been the hotspot in the field of membrane protein research, since it was found in the late of 1960's. It not only has the profound significance in the research of basic theoretics, but also has the broad applied prospects. The structure of bR, the function of proton pump and the folding mechanism are summarized in this review.
