%X In this paper, three main types of timbre, monotonal, dual tonal and triple tonal, of the calling songs of the cicada C.atreta have been revealed. The calling songs are composed of pulse trains (PT) and can be divided to several distinct frequency bands. The frequencies of the main pulses in each PT exactly correspond to the sub-frequency bands. The patterns in both the temporal domain and the frequency domain of the calling songs of the cicada C. atrata possess the coding characteristics.
