%X In the absence of coorperative effect, the reaction between lectin molecules and their receptors on cell surface can be described as below when equilibrium is reached:In which LT denotes total lectin concentration, LF free lectin concentration, mva-lency of lectin, ni number of receptors with affinity constant Ki to lectin, CT total lectin concentration.If all receptors have the same K,the formula becomeLectins are usually proteins or glycoproteins.In reaction system free lectin concentration can be obtained by measuring the supernatant after Centrifugation Spectrophotometry and other methods are available.Thus with constant CT anda series of different LT and LF, the Ki and ni can be calculated by using above formula.
