Studies of the MS effects on plants can enhance to better understand direct effects of wind. Recently, the relationship of MS and plant growth has become one of the interesting issues in plant ecology and plant mechanics. Here, we briefly summarize the progress of MS effects and its mechanisms, and discuss the potential adaptive implications of plant responses to MS in windy environments.
