Althoug h it contributes only 5% global warming potential, great attention has been give n to it due to its depletion of ozone layer of stratosphere. It is estimated tha t soil contributes to 70% of anthropogenic N 2O sources. Nitrification and deni trifcation dominated by soil microorganisms are two main sources for emission of soil N 2O.
