The caloric value of leaf varies evidently with seasons, being the highest in October (19.7kJ/g), and the lowest in April (18.7kJ/g). The caloric value also varies with latitude of the areas where the samples were collected. Genenrally, the caloric values in spring, summer and fall decrease with the latitude increase, but that in winter increase with latitude increase. The charge patterns of caloric values for leaf revealt that K. candel possessed some special biological characters and cold-resistance which make it be able to grow and to be distributed in higher latitude areas than other mangrove species. %K mangrove %K Kandelia candel %K caloric value
