In contrast to membrane capacitance of patch-clamp recording, CFE has advantages in high sensitivity, real detection of release substance and no need for tight-seal patch-clamp, although it detects only a few easily oxidizable transmitters including catecholamines and serotonin. In combination with patch-clamping and Ca imaging measurement, coupling between action-potentials and quantal transmitter secretion in chromaffin cells are demonstrated as the example of CFE application. %K Secretion %K Patch-clamp %K Neurotransmitter %K Membrane capacitance %K Carbon fiber electrode
