In this research the fuzzy controller is used as a Power System Stabilizer (PSS) to improve the stability in power system. The rule base of the proposed PSS is optimized offline automatically by the improved Genetic Algorithm (GA). Usually in a rule base fuzzy control system, exact tuning of fuzzy rule base is very important for achieving the desired level of robust performance. Hence, the rule set of fuzzy PID based stabilizer is tuned by GA to reduce fuzzy system effort and find optimal stabilizer. The effectiveness of the proposed method is tested on the 10-machine 39-bus standard power system and compared with the Tabu Search based tuned PSS under different loading condition through ITAE and FD performance indices. %K PSS %K Fuzzy Controller %K GA %K Multi-machine Power Systems %K Power System Dynamics %U http://article.sapub.org/10.5923.j.computer.20120201.01.html
