%X The article presents the analysis of poplar plantations functioning in two different sites, which can be defined as marginal. Water balance elements were analyzed during normal (2001) and dry year (2002). On the basis, there was defined the effectiveness of poplar plantation functioning on silty and loamy soil during normal and dry year.
