%X The aim of the article is to introduce Swedish participation in international, military peace support operations, lead by the United Nations, the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Taking part in those operations is shown as an alternative strategy for a relatively small state to build its position on the international arena, deriving from its traditional values and interests.
