The research is based on OptSim 5.1. simulation software, which numerically solves nonlinear Schr dinger equation using the split-step Fourier method. It is shown that the CD compensation scheme is crucial for the performance evaluation in combined HDWM transmission channels. Therefore, a scheme of the type is proposed that is suited best for a very complicated combined fiber optical transmission system. It is also found that asymmetrical CD compensation schemes in pre- and post-compensation modules are the most efficient, allowing the best BER in a channel to be achieved. %K high density wavelength division multiplexing (HDWDM) %K chromatic dispersion (CD) compensation methods %K differential phase shift keying with non-return-to zero coding (NRZ-DPSK) %K binary-state polarization shift keying (2-POLSK) %K on-off keying with NRZ coding (NRZ-OOK) %K fiber Bragg grating (FBG) %K optical phase conjugator (OPC) %K dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) %U http://versita.metapress.com/content/w538p187jx521x95/?p=1fbf5a229c9a4b98bd11af0eb077d543&pi=2
