%X we provide the first record of the tricolored munia (lonchura malacca) in chiapas state. including this record, there are now three states that have a confirmed presence of this exotic bird in mexico. previous records of l. malacca occurred in yucatan in 1993 and in quintana roo in 2004. this record suggests a possible increase in the distribution range of l. malacca in mexico.
