%0 Journal Article %T Hipercalcemia de origen tumoral: estudio de 133 casos %A Aznar %A E. %A Mart¨ª %A R. %A P¨¦rez %A P. %A Palau %A J. %A Victoria %A J. %A Hidalgo %A V. %A Moya %A V. %A M¨¢iquez %A J. %J Revista de Diagn¨®stico Biol¨®gico %D 2001 %I Scientific Electronic Library Online %X background and objective: to analyze the hypercalcemia of a tumoral origin detected in an oncologic hospital of 130 beds. the following variables have been considered: topographic tumoral localization, biochemistry profile and overall survival. patients and methods: we have recorded the values of corrected calcium in 10.283 patients with the diagnosis of cancer. serical calcium values equal or higher than 11 mg/dl (2.75 mmol/l) were considered hypercalcemia. results: we have found a total incidence of 1,3%, the highest rates were detected in breast cancer and hematologics tumors. the overall survival was of 312 days. conclusions: despite the reported frequent of the complication, our study has not been found a high incidence (1,3%). this finding suggests a worse prognosis feature in most of the studied cancers. youngest patients showed the highest rates of hypercalcemia and the highest levels of the alkaline phosphatase and lactate dehydrogenase. %K hypercalcemia %K cancer incidence %K overall survival %K side. %U http://scielo.isciii.es/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0034-79732001000100005&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
