%X this article aims to discuss from an anthropological perspective the language of symbols among bolivian immigrants in s£¿o paulo. it attempts to grasp the meaning that some cultural pratices presented in the context of devotional celebrations acquire in the new country. in the case under analysis, the context presents a specific challenge _ as they have to face racial and social discrimination. that is why these immigrants are now engaged in showing a new image of themselves to brazilian society.
