%X this paper studies the relationship between the geography of supporting institutions and the agglomeration of firms in local production and innovation systems in the state of s£¿o paulo. with this purpose, the paper discusses the relationship between geography and innovation, presents quantitative information on the network of institutions, and illustrates the role of supporting institutions in three local production and innovation systems.
