%X azadirachta a. juss, known as neem, is a sacred tree native from india,its leaves are used in traditional african medicine for their bactericide,anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, antipyretic, insecticide and fungicide properties. it is believed that its chemical compounds could be active against several diseases. in this investigation,evaluations on the anti-microbial activity of aqueous, ethanolic and ketonic leaves extracts were carried out against several microorganismos sucas: entero-invasive e. coli and enterotoxic e. coli , atcc 25923; s. aureus ,atcc 27583; p. aeuroginosa, atcc 6258; c. krusei and atcc 90028; c. albicans. antibacterial and antifungic activity was observed at a dose of 0.02 g/ml against several microorganisms in a selective way. the ethanolic and ketonic extracts showed activity against entero-invasive e. coli and enterotoxic e. coli atcc 25923, s. aureus atcc 27853, p. aeuroginosa and c. krusei atcc 6258. the aqueous extract was devoid of activity against any of the tested microorganism at the used dose. none of the assessed extracts were active against c. albicans atcc 90028.
