%0 Journal Article %T An¨¢lisis de comportamiento t¨¦rmico de edificios de oficinas en comunas de la Regi¨®n Metropolitana, Chile %A Bustamante %A W %A De Herde %A A %A Encinas %A F %J Revista de la construcci¨®n %D 2011 %I Scientific Electronic Library Online %R 10.4067/S0718-915X2011000100007 %X office buildings in santiago, chile normally show higher cooling than heating energy demand. overheating and high cooling energy demand are recurrent problems in this type of buildings in the city during summer and spring. this paper shows thermal performance of two representative office buildings constructed within the last 5 years in the city. one of them shows a completely glazed facade with selective glazing. a combination of opaque and glazed facade is used in the other one. another building widely studied in the bibliography, with a double skin facade was also studied under climate conditions of the mentioned city. double skin and completely glazed facades show not to be appropriated for reaching energy efficiency in office buildings in santiago. when using other strategies like the solar protection, double glazing, thermal insulated external walls and nocturnal ventilation in office buildings without double skin, energy efficiency may be reached, tending to zero energy cooling demand. %K energy %K office %K cooling. %U http://www.scielo.cl/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0718-915X2011000100007&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
