%0 Journal Article %T Modelo ontol¨®gico como apoyo a la toma de decisiones en oportunidades de estudio %A Corniel %A Marla %A Ramos %A Luis %A Borges %A Ana Mar¨ªa %A Contreras %A Leonardo %A Gil %A Richard %J Revista de la Facultad de Ingenier¨ªa Universidad Central de Venezuela %D 2010 %I Scientific Electronic Library Online %X the main objective of this research is to propose an ontological model that supports decision making in the process of selecting study opportunities in the venezuelan higher education subsystem (ses). the problem lies in the complexity of choosing a study program in a higher education institution, which is not easy for students, since there is a multiplicity of variables to be evaluated. for the design of this model, information provided by the university sector planning office (opsu in spanish), has been reused, under the ontological paradigm, to obtain a product representative of the domain. the ontology associated was developed using methontology and was registered using the prot¨¦g¨¦ tool 3.1.1, based on ontological web language (owl). in brief, with this ontological implementation, it will be possible to enrich the previous reference model (study opportunities book act), so that it can show the associated information in a more meaningful way, and better related to its context, thus aiming to help students decide their preferred studies and those institutions that meet their expectations. that way, the best option may be chosen in terms of cost/benefit ratio, and an assessment of the institutional requirements be made according to their achieved high school profile, among other estimates that could be considered. %K university study opportunities %K ontology %K semantic web %K methontology %K prot¨¦g¨¦ owl. %U http://www.scielo.org.ve/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0798-40652010000300004&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
