%X the preparation of the first code of canon law of the latin church was ordered by pope saint pius x in 1904. however, the code drafting task was not only the work of a closed group of experts, but also considered the opinion of the latin episcopate, which was consulted in two different moments. in both of them, the bishop of asunci車n of paraguay was consulted. this work addresses, based on the documentation kept by the vatican secret archives, the contribution of the bishop of asunci車n in the second instance, concretely, his remarks regarding the project of book iii on things.
