%0 Journal Article %T Histerectom¨ªa obst¨¦trica (2000-2007) %A Faneite %A Pedro %A Rivera %A Clara %A Faneite %A Josmery %J Revista de Obstetricia y Ginecolog¨ªa de Venezuela %D 2008 %I Sociedad de Obstetricia y Ginecolog¨ªa de Venezuela %X summary objective: to determine the incidence, related factors and repercussions of obstetrical hysterectomies. setting: hospital "dr. adolfo prince lara", puerto cabello. method: retrospective, descriptive study, of 37 obstetrical hysterectomies performed between 2000 and 2007, in 23 030 cases. results: frequency was 0.16 % or 1 every 622 obstetrical cases. procedence form carabobo state was predominant (70.27 %), maternal age between 20-34 years (81.09 %), single (59.46 %) and no prenatal care (51.35 %); the majority were gavidas ii-vii (64.84 %), gestation at term (48.65 %), cesarean section (78.39 %), and hospitalary stay 7 or less days (67.57 %). the principal indications were uterine atony (40.54 %), uterine rupture (27.03 %) and sepsis 16/8 % (postpartum 10/81 % and postabortum 5.4 %); total hysterectomy prevailed (78.38 %). global morbidity was 62.16 %, stand out anemia; there were 3 maternal deaths (8.11 %). conclusion: obstetrical hysterectomy constituted a public heath problem in our hospital, that showed an increase in the studied period associated to uterine atony and rupture, with increased maternal morbi-mortality, that require a better obstetrical and public health attention. %K obstetrical hysterectomy %K postpartum hysterectomy. %U http://www.scielo.org.ve/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0048-77322008000200005&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
