%X objective: to determine the level of knowledge and kind of approach that a group of women between the ages of 40 to 50 have on the climaterium and its consequences. method: descriptive and transversal study on 75 women. the information was collected trough a survey divided into four parts: a socio demographic variable, a clinical variable, one about the climaterium level of knowledge and one about their approach to this period. results: most women know what menopause is and they recognize the benefits of hormonal therapy. they don£¿t know what climaterium is, and are unaware of risks inherent to hormonal therapy. more than 75 % of surveyed women have a highly positive attitude towards climaterium. conclusions: there is an insufficient level of information about the climaterium process with a very positive approach towards it.
