%0 Journal Article %T Histerectom¨ªa obst¨¦trica: an¨¢lisis de 15 a£¿os %A Brice£¿o-P¨¦rez %A Carlos %A Brice£¿o-Sanabria %A Liliana %A Garc¨ªa %A Scott %A Jaimes %A Tania %A Brice£¿o-Sanabria %A Juan Carlos %A Brice£¿o-Sanabria %A Carlos %J Revista de Obstetricia y Ginecolog¨ªa de Venezuela %D 2009 %I Sociedad de Obstetricia y Ginecolog¨ªa de Venezuela %X summary objective: to determine the incidence, associated factors and repercussions of obstetric hysterectomy. methods: retrospective, descriptive, analytic and transversal study that included 50 obstetric hysterectomies (oh) in 64 293 obstetrics cases, during fifteen years (from august 1st, 1993 to july 31th, 2008). setting: department of obstetrics and gynecology. our lady of chiquinquira hospital. maracaibo, venezuela. results: the incidence of oh was 0.07 % (1 oh by 1 285 obstetric cases). it was more frequent in women between 25-29 years (26 %), iv gestations (34 %), para 3 (26 %), prenatal care (63,33 %), pregnancies 37-41 weeks (56 %), after cesarean section (46 %), total hysterectomy (86 %), uterine atony as mean indication (38 %), complicated with anemia (88 %), blood transfusion (84 %) and discharged home <7 days length of stay (56 %). there were 8 maternal deaths (16 %) and adjusted maternal mortality rate was 792 by 10 000 live births. there were 9 abortions (18 %), 15 fetal deaths (30 %) and adjusted perinatal mortality rate was 129 by 1 000 live births. conclusions: obstetric hysterectomy in the studied population, was not frequent, commonest indicated by hemorrhagic disorders and there were high maternal morbidity and mortality. %K hysterectomy %K obstetric %K emergency %K peripartum. %U http://www.scielo.org.ve/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0048-77322009000200004&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
