%0 Journal Article %T Alteraciones hemost¨¢ticas en pacientes con sangrado uterino anormal %A Fern¨¢ndez %A Gerardo %A Torres Guerra %A Enrique %A Diez-Ewald %A Mar¨ªa %A Delgado-Fox %A Mariela %A Fern¨¢ndez %A Nelson %A Quintero %A Jes¨²s %A Vizca¨ªno %A Gilberto %A Fern¨¢ndez %A Marisol %J Revista de Obstetricia y Ginecolog¨ªa de Venezuela %D 2009 %I Sociedad de Obstetricia y Ginecolog¨ªa de Venezuela %X objective: to know the frequency of hemostatic defects in women with abnormal uterine bleeding methods: 55 patients, 17 to 55 years of age, with abnormal uterine bleeding, were studied. a clinical history, a physical examination that included a gynecological exam, endometrial biopsy, and pelvic and transvaginal echograms, comprised the evaluation in each patient. a haemostatic profile was also performed that included: prothrombin and partial thromboplastin times, factors viii (fviii), von willebrand (vwf) and ix (fiv) determinations, and platelet aggregation with epinephrine, adp, collagen and ristocetin. setting: nuestra se£¿ora de chiquinquira hospital, maracaibo. venezuela and instituto de investigaciones clinicas " dr. americo negrette", facultad de medicina. universidad del zulia. results: all women had either an organic, functional or mixed genital alteration. coagulation times and concentration of factors were normal, with the exception of one patient with 0.47u/¦Ìl of fviii. in 51.1 % of the cases, the platelet aggregation was defective. conclusion: the frequency of coagulation defects was similar in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding and the general population. for this reason, a thorough coagulation profile is not justified in all patients with abnormal uterine bleeding, however, the high proportion of abnormal platelet aggregations should be taken into account before a surgical procedure. %K menorragia %K metrorragia %K menometrorragia factor viii %K factor von willebrand %K platelet agregation. %U http://www.scielo.org.ve/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0048-77322009000100006&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
