%X this article proposes that the type of hedonism found in epicurus£¿ ethics is ethical, not psychological, hedonism. this paper also objects to using doxographical reports as the basis for developing an interpretation of epicurus philosophy when primary source materials are available. doxography should be used to clarify the primary source materials, not the other way around.
