Venezuela %A Chirino Acosta %A Pedro Antonio %A P¨¦rez Labrador %A Joaqu¨ªn %A Soto P¨¢ez %A Nuvia %A Guti¨¦rrez ¨¢lvarez %A Nelsa %J Revista de Ciencias M£¿£¿dicas de Pinar del R£¿-o %D 2012 %I Editorial Ciencias M¨¦dicas %X introduction: a descriptive, cross-sectional study having qualitative, quantitative approach. objective: to describe the behavior of sexually transmitted infections in female patients from 15 to 40 years old attended at "manuel laya" comprehensive diagnosis center in biruaca, apure state, venezuela during january-july 2011. the high incidence of sexually transmitted infections in this center motivated the conduction of this study. material and methods: theoretical: induction-deduction, historical-logic, theoretical procedures: analysis and synthesis to review and interpret the information. documentary revision of worksheets was used as empirical methods, reviewing as well the medical literature related to sexually transmitted infections. data were expressed in absolute and percentage values. results: vulvovaginitis due to candida albicans showed the greatest incidence followed by trichomoniasis and human papilloma virus (hpv). conclusion: female patients attending to outpatient offices due to sexually transmitted infections confirmed the high incidence. ethical criteria were respected using the results of the research for scientific purposes. %K . %U http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S1561-31942012000200012&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
