%0 Journal Article %T El pueblo Mapuche: Historia, medicina y proyectos de coexistencia en el ¨¢rea de la salud (Segunda parte) %A Err¨¢zuriz F %A Germ¨¢n %J Revista chilena de pediatr¨ªa %D 2006 %I Sociedad Chilena de Pediatr¨ªa %R 10.4067/S0370-41062006000400011 %X background: the mapuche and williche people are originated in chile. some diseases present with special characteristics in these people, in contrast with hispanic population. the first part of this review shows the origins of these cultures and some features of their medicine. objective: to describe the differences in leptina levels and the incidence of colelithiasis in mapuches vs hispanic population and other cultures. besides, projects involving traditional and mapuche or williche medicine in our country are exposed. results: mapuche people present lower leptina levels than hispanic people, either in fat and non-fat persons. also, their incidence for cholesterol lithiasis is greater, due to mayor secretion of cholesterol than other cultures. the makewe project in temuco (traditional plus mapuche medicine) and kompu project in chilo¨¦ (traditional plus williche medicine) are presented. conclusions: better knowledge of diseases and their treatment in different cultures allow the successful development of medical projects that include traditional and ancestral medicine %K mapuche %K williche %K medicine %K leptina %K colelithiasis. %U http://www.scielo.cl/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0370-41062006000400011&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
