%X new evidence notes that genital herpes is an important health problem. nevertheless, investigations have been limited about a bio-psyco-social approach of this disease. therefore, in this manuscript we have as a purpose, to perform a systematic review leading to epidemiology, treatment and social impact of genital herpes . the combination of these concepts in spanish as well as in english, were drawn from electronic databases such as ebsco, cinhal, scielo and medline. this article bring to a close that genital herpes is the most frequent in the world sexually transmitted disease, however, there are no statistics in cuba which denote the presence of this disease. there are very scarce studies both national and international that show the presence of this disease and its social and psychological impact.
