%0 Journal Article %T Pulgarizaci¨®n del ¨ªndice en la amputaci¨®n traum¨¢tica del pulgar %A Pe£¿a Marrero %A Liv¨¢n %A ¨¢lvarez Cambras %A Rodrigo %A L¨®pez D¨ªaz %A Haysell %A Sall¨¦s Betancourt %A Guido %A Fort¨²n Planas %A Primitivo %A Figueredo D¨ªaz %A Liset %J Revista Cubana de Ortopedia y Traumatolog£¿-a %D 2002 %I Editorial Ciencias M¨¦dicas %X a prospective study was conducted in 6 patients with traumatic amputation of the thumb that were treated by pollicization. in 2 patients, the amputation occurred at the level of the neck of the first metacarpal; in 1 at the level of the middle third; in 2 at the level of the base; and in 1 by the trapeziometacarpal joint. all the patients were able to perform digital pliers with force 4 ¨® 5. some degree of opposition was obtained in 100 % of the patients. sensibility was maintained in all the fingers undergoing pollicization. a good result was obtained in 66.7 % of the patients, fair in 33.3 %, and bad in none. the only complication was a delayed reduction. the best results were observed in patients that had no damage either of the thenar muscles or of the trapeziometacarpal joint. %K thumb %K amputation %K traumatic %K reconstructive surgical procedures %K prospective studies. %U http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0864-215X2002000100003&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
