%0 Journal Article %T Transposici¨®n de la cabeza esternal del pectoral mayor de la esc¨¢pula en el tratamiento de la par¨¢lisis del serrato anterior %A Pe£¿a Marrero %A Liv¨¢n %A ¨¢lvarez Cambras %A Rodrigo %A L¨®pez D¨ªaz %A Haysell %A P¨¦rez B¨¢ez %A Gilbert %A Vega Fern¨¢ndez %A Enrique %A Figueredo D¨ªaz %A Liset %J Revista Cubana de Ortopedia y Traumatolog£¿-a %D 2003 %I Editorial Ciencias M¨¦dicas %X a prospective descriptive study about the introduction in ¡°frank pa¨ªs¡± international orthopedic scientific complex of a current technique for the treatment of chronic paralysis of the serrato anterior muscle, published in the international literature, was conducted. the sample was made up of 5 patients who had been seen at the hospital from june, 2001 to june, 2002. the patients underwent a surgical treatment consisting of transfer of the sternal head of the pectoralis major muscle to the vertebral edge of the scapula. two patients were females and 3 males aged 28.8 years as an average, with range of 17-40 years. the average time of development of lesion before treatment was 17.8 months, with a range of 13-22 months. the abduction average of the patients¡ä shoulders before treatment was 78¡ã but after treatment, abduction average reached 171¡ã. results were excellent in 2 patients (40%) and good in 3 patients. the applied treatment had no complications. %K pectoralis muscles [surgery] %K paralysis. %U http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0864-215X2003000100003&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
