%0 Journal Article %T Traumatismo craneoencef¨¢lico: estudio de cinco a£¿os %A Quintanal Cordero %A Nelson %A Felipe Mor¨¢n %A Armando %A T¨¢panes Dom¨ªnguez %A Alejandro %A Rodr¨ªguez de la Paz %A Norbery %A Ca£¿izares Marrero %A Cecilia %A Prince L¨®pez %A Jos¨¦ %J Revista Cubana de Medicina Militar %D 2006 %I ECIMED %X six thousand five hundred and forty eight patients, who went to the emergency room of ¡°dr luis d¨ªaz soto¡± with a diagnosis of cranioencephalic trauma, were studied regardless of the severity of injure and of associated multiple lesions. of this number, 19,62 % were children. the most frequent cause was traffic accident. slight cranioencephalic trauma prevailed and only 383 patients presented with moderate to severe traumatism. 18,35 % of cases required hospitalization and 4,54 % needed some type of urgent surgery. forty two percent of patients suffering cranioencephalic traumatism died and also 27,61 % of operated patients deceased. respiratory sepsis was the most frequent complication. good results were achieved in 47,71 % of cases with severe cranioencephalic traumatism and in 98,41 % of the studied patients in general. %K neurosurgical emergencies %K cranioencephalic trauma %K behaviour. %U http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0138-65572006000200003&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
