%0 Journal Article %T Abordajes venosos profundos en Cuidados Intensivos: Estudio de 4 meses %A Triolet G¨¢lvez %A Alfredo %A Pino ¨¢lvarez %A Ana Amelia %A Rodr¨ªguez Fern¨¢ndez %A Teresa %A Pino ¨¢varez %A Ana Mayd¨¦ %J Revista Cubana de Medicina %D 2003 %I ECIMED %X it has been proved that the deep venous approach (dva) is one of the most used procedures in critical patients and it is subjected to failures and complications even in expert hands. the deep venous approaches performed at the intensive care unit of "general calixto garc¨ªa" clinical and surgical hospital during 4 months were analyzed. 128 attempts were made, 25.75 % failed and 10.4 % complicated immediately. it was determined that the endovenous medication with reading of the central venous pressure was the main cause of attempts of endovenous approach. the complications of yugular approach were arterial puncture (8 patients) and venous hematoma of the neck (5 patients), whereas the complication of the subclavian approach was pneumothorax (1 patient). no associations were found between failures and complications of the attempted route and the physician's category %K intensive care units %K critical care %K central venous pressure %K nutrition %K parenteral %K injections %K intravenous %K catheterization %K central venous [utilization] %K catheterization %K central venous [adverse effects]. %U http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0034-75232003000300002&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
