%X an overview of the contents of the economic assesment of drugs, a discipline presently called pharmacoeconomics, is presented. it is necessary to set forth and deal with the basic concepts of pharmacoeconomics so that professionals working in both the national sanitary system and pharmaceutical industry can use the analysis techniques of this discipline as a supporting tool for taking decisions, evaluating and making rational choices between two or more alternatives of pharmacological treatments and having an impact on health and sanitary resources. the findings of this approach is the acknoledgement of the importance of this subject as a sanitary in the national economy.
