%X a 55 years old female patient with a history of epilepsy, was admitted for elective cardiac surgery. mitral valve replacement was performed with bioprosthesis, the surgery was complicated by a left ventricular laceration that ultimately resulted in the death of the patient during the postoperative period. the autopsy findings are presented
