Albi %J Revista Ciencias T£¿£¿cnicas Agropecuarias %D 2012 %I Scientific Electronic Library Online %X this paper presents the results of a subsurface drainage system for small-scale removal of zinc in agricultural soils for horticultural production for the almolonga valley in guatemala. the system comprises a typical area of one hectare applied in three layers of 8,16 and 32 mm of water and is based on the hooghoudt equation for the established flow with hydraulic conductivity £¿£¿of 1.46 m/d, impermeable layer at a depth of 3 m, standard drain 70 cm, maximum water table elevation above drain 30 cm, flood allowable time of 5 days. from these parameters we obtain the drain placement depth of five feet distance from drain to impermeable layer of 2 m. the investigation propose for these conditions statistical- mathematics functions that relates the applied water depth to the specific flow, the distance between drains and flow captured by the drains, average equivalent area to the entry of water of 15 mm2 and rectangular holes of 3 mm x 5 mm which ensures 157 openings per meter of pipe. %K subsurface drainage %K removal of zinc %K horticultural production. %U http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S2071-00542012000400011&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
