%X background: there are multiple medical risks associated with pregnancy in adolescent mothers, then the importance of carrying out actions to diminish the same ones. objective: to increase the knowledge about the risk factors in the gestating adolescents from camalote. method: an educational intervention study in camalote, gu¨¢imaro, from 2007 to 2008 was performed. the universe and sample was integrated by sixty eight gestating adolescents. a questionnaire was applied before and after the educational program with the variables: sexual behavior, beginning of sexual intercourses, age of the first delivery. the obtained data were processed by methods authorized by means of statistical packages microstat and the results expressed in charts. results: the 79,41% belonged to the group from fifteen to seventeen years. with the application of the intervention was possible to increase the knowledge in all the studied risk factors. conclusions: the utility of the study was demonstrated through the increase of knowledge.
