%X background: the hip osteonecrosis is a debilitating and progressive lesion of the caput femoral that usually causes destruction of the hip articulation in patients between twenty and fifty years of age. objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of rectal ozonotherapy in the hip osteonecrosis. method: an early phase ii clinical assay was conducted, from november 1st 2007 to july 1st 2008, in patients coming from the orthopedics and traumatology consultation of the military hospital of camag¨¹ey, treated in the pigmentary retinosis provincial center. the universe was constituted by sixty five patients, of them, thirty six conformed the sample that fulfilled the inclusion criteria established for the selection of patients in this investigation, to those were applied the treatment during four weeks. patients were evaluated by a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology. data were processed in a pentium microcomputer, distributions of frequency were obtained. results: the asymptomatic condition was influenced by the biggest gradation in the ficat scale was proven. independently that no patient modified the radiological signs with the treatment was considered an effective treatment in the entirety of the cases, due to the improvement of the symptoms and signs. conclusions: no adverse reactions with the application of the rectal ozonotherapy were presented.
