Experimental Research on the Movement Patterns of Flat-Shaped Block in Debris Flows

Lei Feng
Geological disasters occur frequently in China, and large-scale debris flow events have caused serious threats to people’s lives and property. Debris flow has the characteristics of high density and high velocity, especially the presence of large block in debris flow, which makes debris flow a great threat to engineering structures. In order to investigate the movement patterns of flat-shaped block in debris flow, a small-scale flume experiment with precise control was carried out. In the experi...

This paper presents the results of research that evaluated the wind potential based on the growing trend of the search for green energy and prospects for the exploitation of this type of energy source in different municipalities in Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. Average wind speed data were collected daily from 17 automatic stations provided by the Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia (INMET) for one year, from September 22, 2020 to September 22, 2021; it calculated, in sequence, the seasonal avera...

Study of the in-Depth Extension of Geophysical Lineaments Deduced from Magnetic Data in an Oil Block: Case of Block 10B in the Central Basin (Democratic Republic of the Congo)

Ngambua Ngambua Rene, Shakeel Hussain, Nida Jabeen, Foutou Matsoulou Ray, Ashfaq Niaz
This paper aims to study the magnetic data collected in block 10B of the central basin in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This block includes lineaments mainly of internal geodynamic origin. This is work that further deepens knowledge of the lineaments of the central basin, although analyzes and maps for oil research purposes remain complex (location, detection techniques, and enhancements). The lineaments play great importance in mining prospecting than in oil prospecting. Because often the l...

Terrain Modeling and Analysis Using Earth Observation System Based Data: A Case Study of Anambra State, Nigeria

E. Ahuchaogu Udo, O. C. Ojinnaka, A. C. Chukwuocha, U. Duru Uchenna
We met terrain as the core of our existence therefore good understanding of the topography and other environmental settings improves safety. Mapping and visualization of terrain variable are the bedrock for understanding, protection, management and meaningful development of the physical environment. Integration of remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS) techniques has proved to be force for sustainable development. Therefore, the aim of this study is to demonstrate how RS and...

Time Variations Analysis of the Geomagnetic Field in the Municipality of Macaé, Brazil

Laisa Prata Moreira Fernandes, Joao Victor Jobim de Souza e Silva, Iago Reis Homsi, Paula de Carvalho Garcia, Gabriel Teixeira de Oliveira Barroso, Tainá Rebelo e Ribeiro, Gabriel Gomes Dias de Oliveira, Vania Regina de Oliveira Branco, Hans Schmidt Santos
This paper presents the analysis of temporal variations of the geomagnetic field in the municipality of Macaé, Brazil. Current and historical magnetic field from the IGRF (International Geomagnetic Reference Field) and Gufm1 models were used to construct two-dimensional maps from 1590 to 2019. Analysis of the maps revealed that there was a large decrease in total magnetic field magnitude from around 48,000 nT in 1590 to 23,000 nT in 2019, i.e., a decrease of more than 50%. This decrease was inte...

In this study, a certain zone of Libra oil field of the pre-salt region was se-lected to be analyzed for didactic purposes in order to simulate AVO re-sponses. The region was modeled using seismic data, setting up a typical oil system with source rock (shale), reservoir rock (sandstone), and seal rock (salt). Thus, a set of parameters such as seismic wave velocity, density and Poisson’s ratio for the studied zone w

Geomagnetic Mapping of the Macaé Region, Brazil

Igor Rodrigues Salvador de Menezes, Júllia Medeiros Figueiredo, Davi Antonio Ferreira Velloso, Maria Eduarda da Silva Bento, Iuri de Azevedo Lima, Hans Schmidt Santos
This work presents the geomagnetic characterization of the municipality of Macaé, Brazil. Data from IGRF12 (twelfth edition of International Geomag-netic Reference Field) were used. Through the data collected in a regular grid of 0.1 degrees of the components, north, east and vertical were generated maps of components, inclination, declination, horizontal component and geomagnetic total field. The results showed important relative
