Hymenoptera Type Material from the National Museum of Costa Rica II: Paratypes

Marcela Sánchez-Ocampo, Andrés Herrera
Through the physical review of the Hymenoptera collection of the National Museum of Costa Rica and 53 articles associated with the description of species, we found a total of 4218 paratype specimens, representing 17 families, 41 subfamilies, 47 tribes and 143 genera. Some of them belonging to the genus Heterospilus were damaged during a return of material by mail, and others have genetic sequencing available for research. The possibility that many other paratypes are found in other collections i...

Systemic Slow-Release Neem Formulations: The Future of Cabbage Aphids, Brevicoryne brassicae Control

Josephine Karanja, Philip Pallmann, Hans-Michael Poehling
The efficacy and dose-response, residual effect, and effect on the fecundity of neem formulations on cabbage aphid Brevicoryne brassicae applied systemically through root tissues of Brussels sprouts (Brassica oleracea), were studied in the greenhouse. Two formulations were tested; NeemAzal granules containing 7% azadirachtin (AZA), at 75, 150, 225 and 300 mg per kilogram of the substrate and a water-based formulation, NeemAzal-T (1% AZA) at 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 ml/kg of substrate. The...

Chidanand Shivshankar Patil, Shashi Vemuri, Haidas Vitthal Deore, Yogesh Subhash Saindane, Kosnam Kavitha, Vodur Anitha
Field and laboratory experiments were conducted to study the residues and dis-sipation of Fluopyram, a succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) and tebu-conazole, demethylation inhibitor (DMI) used for the control of powdery mil-dew and Anthracnose diseases in grape. Residues of fluopyram dissipated with a half life of 4.04 and 5.18 days, at recommended and double dose, respectively. For tebuconazole, the half life values recorded

The Impact of Agro-Ecological Variation on Biological Parameters of Bruchidius atrolineatus Pic (Coleoptera-Chrysomelidae-Bruchinae)

Dan Mairo Adamou Moumouni, Ali Doumma, Amadou Harouna Issa
In this study, the biological parameters of two B. atrolineatus strains originated from two different agro-ecological areas of Niger are examined. The analysis of the adult lifetime showed that B. atrolineatus strain of the Sahelo-Sudanese area lived longer (7.58 ± 2.19 days) than that of the Sahelian area (7.44 ± 1.39 days). Furthermore, males lived longer than females regardless of the strain origin. The egg laying activity showed that the eggs laid number was not s...
