Abstract

Background. The development of each language depends on its internal capabilities and on the language policy of the state wherein it exists. The state status of the Ukrainian language raised its prestige and strengthened its communicative power. This led to weakening of the impact of the Russian language on Ukrainian and strengthening of the influence of the Ukrainian language on Russian. First of all, this phenomenon is manifest in the increasing number of Ukrainianisms in the texts of journalistic and colloquial genre. A reliable source for researching the impact of the Ukrainian language on Russian, which combines the features of both styles, is blogs. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to consider the cases of using Ukrainianisms in Russian-language texts, to clarify their functions, to identify groups that are actively replenished with Ukrainian lexemes. Methods. The article uses a descriptive research method. Results. The use of Ukrainianisms in the Russian-language texts in the modern blogosphere is one of the characteristic features of this style. Ukrainianisms are predominantly used with a stylistic purpose. They perform the function of jargonisms. Words used in the literal sense present the realities of modern life in Ukraine, particularly legal, administrative, and military practices. In the structure of the Russian-language texts, the following phenomena are frequent: Ukrainian forms of address, farewells, gratitude, Ukrainian conjunctions, particles, parenthesis, Ukrainian linguocultural denotations, particularly the names of famous works, idioms, quotations, sayings, etc. The conscious use of Ukrainian vocabulary differs significantly from the so-called Ukrainian-Russian surzhik, where such elements are the result of insufficient knowledge of both languages. Such Ukrainianisms are original markers of the belonging of Russian-language texts to the Ukrainian context; these examples can also testify the linguistic consciousness of the authors and their desire to convey the Ukrainian identity through Ukrainian words in the Russian-language text. Conclusions and perspectives. The growth of the Ukrainian language in public space and the attention to the Ukrainian word in Russian texts may indicate that Ukrainian society is gradually overcoming the identity crisis; this process is facilitated by both state support of the Ukrainian language and the positive attitude of society towards it. Obviously, it is the Ukrainian society who decides on the further development of the Ukrainian language – either it will be used only as a stylistic means and source for borrowing, or the Ukrainian language will function fully on the whole territory of Ukraine.
