%X this article results from a research carried out between april and june of 2010 in the instituto de estudos brasileiros at the universidade de s£żo paulo, in which a complete list of titles related to the german language and culture was collected from jo£żo guimar£żes rosa's personal library. alongside a description of the procedures taken, we offer a comment on some of the most important aspects of the material analysed, including its recurrent themes and features, such as the marginalia found in volumes by authors like nietzsche, kafka and erich auerbach, as well as on the general context of guimar£żes rosa's german readings. we intend to contribute to the studies of guimar£żes rosa's literary sources, and also to throw light on an object that may be of future interest within the german studies in brazil.
