%X this paper presents a method elaborated in the context of the central library of the universidade federal do rio grande do sul for the evaluation of the book collections which give support to the undergraduate teaching activities. it describes the structuring phase of the information system for the elaboration of the collection evaluation report. and lastly, it shows how the report data are joined in a formula for allocating funds for the purchase of undergraduate books among the library system units.
