%X usage study of communication and information electronic resources by brazilian researchers in the generation of new knowledge. the analysis encompasses the frequency of participation in the network as well as the intervenient factors, usage aims and the relevance of this technology. electronic resources and traditional printed ones are compared in scientific and technical information usage and access. results identified perceptions and perspectives, among which the coming together of scientific communication and scientific divulgation, the confluence of communication and information processes and the growing interest for research in the area, including brazil. considering the importance of electronic resources for research, there is a need for its constant expansion and updating, which implies investments by brazilian institutions and its insertion in the national public policies.
