%X glucose is the main energy supply for the cell and requires a transport protein to enter through cell membranes. two monosacharid transport systems have been described: sglt (sodium-glucose transporters) and glut (glucose transporters). in this article we review the main molecular, biochemical and functional characteristics of these monosacharid transporters.
