%X field trials were conducted at epamig, lavras, brazil, from may to october/95, to indicate productive garlic cultivars with industrialization characteristics. the experimental design was of randomized complete blocks with four repetitions and seven treatments: dourado de castro, chines£¿o, gigante de curitibanos, gigante de lav¨ªnia, amarante, car¨¢ and gigante roxo. the commercial bulb yield varied from 7.37 to 14.72 t/ha, the most productive ones being the gigante curitibanos (14.72 t/ha) and dourado de castro (14.29 t/ha), with no significant difference, followed by cultivars presenting yield over 7.00 t/ha. a variation occurred from 18.00 (amarante) to 59.25 g/bulb (gigante roxo) and from 8.20 (chines£¿o) to 33.78 cloves/bulb (dourado de castro). cultivars presented no significant differences for total and soluble solids, with values over 36.95 and 36.00%, respectively, besides presenting good characteristics for industrialization.
