%X agriculture geographic dynamics is a complex process that is expressed in uneven specialization and redistribution patterns of agriculture production in different regions of the country along time. the study of this process in agriculture generally focuses on production changes, cultivated surface and yield of the main regional crops. an exploratory analysis of corn productive specialization, being corn the main cereal in venezuelan agriculture, is performed with the purpose of knowing time and spatial variations of crops in the federal entities of the country during 1984-2004. a multivariate analysis of the productive specialization index allowed defining a spatial pattern of reference from which variations of this item were established during the period. it is concluded that a general decrease and relocation of the crop productive specialization in the country have not favored the configuration of a consolidated sustained regional pattern of corn crops in venezuelan plains as it is seen in northern and southern temperate prairies of the continent.
