Fern, is a threatened, ornamental fern</span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">,</span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> which is widely used as
novel foliage ornamental plant and local people use</span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> it</span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> in worship. The taxon is threatened due to over
exploitation, habi</span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">tat
destruction and genetic barriers. To understand the constraints in the
regeneration</span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">,</span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> reproductive biology studies are made. It is observed that more sporophytes </span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">are</span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> produced in composite
population (13.3%) in comparison to isolate population (10%). This pattern is
suggestive of the fact that the parental sporophyte </span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">is</span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> heterozygous for recessive sporophytic lethal. On
the basis of the results obtained </span><i><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">A.</span></i></span><i><span lang=\"EN-US\"> </span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">nidus </span></i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">was initially adapted for
outbreeding with the capacity for considerable amount of inbreeding. The low
potential of sporophyte production in isolate gametophyte could be the constitution
of the zygotic genotype</span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">.</span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><o:p></o:p></span>
